Ultrasound Guided Corticosteroid Injection – Sydney

Ultrasound-guided injections are used to treat a range of conditions:

• Nerve entrapments: Nerve entrapments occur when a nerve becomes compressed or trapped, leading to pain, tingling, or numbness. Ultrasound-guided injections can be utilized to deliver a corticosteroid injection with or without a local anaesthetic agent, near the entrapped nerve. This helps reduce inflammation and alleviate symptoms by providing targeted relief to the affected nerve.
• Carpal tunnel syndrome: Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common type of nerve entrapment, where the median nerve in the arm becomes compressed at the level of the wrist. This can cause abnormal sensation and pain in the hand. Nerve conduction studies may be used to confirm the site of compression in the wrist. Corticosteroid injections into the rest can provide symptomatic relief from pain and other issues.
• Headaches: Ultrasound-guided injections are beneficial for treating specific types of headaches, including migraines, cervicogenic headaches and occipital neuralgia.
